If you're anything like me, when you aren't running you get pretty lost! Well, fear not, you don't have to feel lost! There are so many things you can do when you're on a running break, from fitness, to relaxing, to other hobbies!
1. Biking---> I love biking and when I am running, I don't allow myself that time to bike, so when taking a running break, this is the perfect time to spend some hours on the bike! Also, it can help you maintain your running base.

2. Strength train---> A running break is a great time to focus on lifting and strength training. You don't have to worry about being too sore after a lifting session and how it will affect your running because you're not running!
3. Read a book---> If you are avoiding working out all together, then in the morning or evening when you usually run, read a book instead! Reading is so good for your mind and soul and I think everyone should read!
4. Go out---> Often times when runners are in a training cycle, they will avoid going out the night before a long run or the night after because they do not want to be hungover or are too tired. Use this time to go out and have some fun!
5. Try a new class---> I tried my first spin class this week during my running break and I LOVED it. I am now considering by a spin class package to go a couple of times a week. It is so nice to avoid the pounding of my legs, but I feel like I am getting such a good workout! You can also try crossfit, barre, boot camp classes, yoga, etc!
6. Eat some yummy foods---> When running, many times you will avoid a certain food because you don't like the way it affects your running, but when not running, why not treat yourself a couple of times. I'm not saying stuff your face with every piece of junk food, but treat YOSELF! Donuts, cake, brownies, a big steak, mac and cheese, whatever you fancy!
7. Go hiking/ nature walking---> This is a great way to move and enjoy nature at the same time. It is relaxing and peaceful. If you have a dog, take them along!
So, as I said before, don't worry about taking a running break! There are so many things to do to keep you moving and occupied! It is good to take a break here and there and focus on other things you love to do! It's amazing what you can accomplish :)
With love, animals, and running
