I am so excited about my Polar FT7 watch that I received in the mail on Saturday! I ordered this specific watch because it monitors heart rate, keeps track of how long your workout is, and also accurately counts calories burned through your weight, height, age (be VERY accurate) and also through your heart rate, which is the main reason it is so accurate! I do a lot of gym workouts involving lifting and HIIT, so this is great for that. I also have recently taken up spinning and am trying my first kickboxing class this week, so I can keep track of all of my workouts!
I've only used it twice, once for a run, and once for a gym workout, but here are my thoughts:
Comfort: The watch fits really nicely around the wrist and I have no issues with it. The heart rate monitor, which is strapped around the chest just below the breasts, is for the most part comfortable. I feel as though once I start sweating a lot, it kind of moves a bit, but I think that's because I need to tighten it more. Once it has been on for a while, you don't even feel it though!
Appearance: It looks like a normal watch. It's not big and bulky and can be easily passed off as a normal watch. Also, the color options are nice, and I like my blue and violet colors. You cannot tell that you have a heart rate monitor strap either. It doesn't stick out and you're the only one that knows you have it on!
Heart rate accuracy: I find that the heart rate monitor is extremely accurate. When I am resting, it's usually around 60-70 bpm, which is normal for me because I have a very low resting heart rate due to running. When exercising and working hard, it's usually around 158-170 bpm, which is in the target heart rate zone for someone my age. If I reach up to 200 bpm, I know I should take a step back because that is pretty high.
Calories burnt accuracy: This I also find to be very accurate. Yesterday when I ran 4 miles, it said I burned 331 calories, which is very believable. My watch usually says I burn around 390 calories, but because I am smaller and don't burn as many calories as a larger man, I burn less calories per mile. When I lifted today and used the elliptical intensely for an hour total workout, I burned 440 calories, and I find this to be accurate!
Price: $63 on Amazon. You can't beat this price! While looking for a good watch that didn't break the bank, I found some topping off at $400!! Yes, $400! This $63 is great, easy to use, and I am so pleased with it for what I got it for!!
Overall: I really like this product. It seems extremely accurate all together, is good quality, was a good price, and really lets me see what I'm doing during my workouts and how hard I am working!
Recommend? I would definitely recommend this watch to someone who does all types of workouts and wants to track them!
