Sometimes, you are just not in the mood to exercise, or maybe you do not exercise but want to start to become healthier. Well, I decided to compile a list of ways to sneak a little workout in without even realizing it. These are not meant to shoot your heart rate up or make you sweat buckets, they are just to get you moving and burn a few calories while clearing your head!
1. Walk your dog: If you have a dog, you should be walking it anyways (sorry, this is coming from a vet tech). Take your dog for a nice long walk. If you want to get even more exercise in, find a object in the distance and jog to it with your dog! This is great for both you and your dog :) You can also do squats in place while your dog stops to sniff and use the bathroom!
2. Stand while working: If you work at a desk and get restless and bored during the day, stand up while working! Tap your feet, do some kickbacks, do some squats, do some lunges. Whatever you feel like doing, just do it!
3. Every time you use the toilet, make it a point to do some exercises: For instance, do 10 squats and 20 high knees every time you go to the bathroom!
4. Go exploring in the woods: Take a nice walk through the woods. Climb up hills, jump over logs, observe the flowers, smell the fresh air! It won't even feel like you're exercising!
5. Park your car far away: Whenever you go the grocery store, the mall, to get a coffee, park in the farthest spot away. This will allow for a longer walk to wherever you are going!
6. Take the stairs: If there is an option for an elevator, just ignore it. Walk up the stairs, it is so much better for you!
7. Walk downtown to your favorite coffee shop or restaurant: Walking places is so much better for yourself and for the planet!
8. If you live close to your work, bike or walk! I see so many people biking to work or biking to the train station, and I think it's great!
9. Walk the beach: Search for seashells, sea glass, living creatures, and other unique finds! It is so much fun, and walking in the sand gives you a great workout because of the amount you have to push off your calves!
